New story arc!  It's filled to the brink with romantic gestures and zombies, of course!  Because what goes together better than brain chewing and love... chewing?

I am very tired.

Have Spellbook, Will Travel - Behind the Scenes 2

It's that time again!  Behind-the-scenes time!  This episode we talk to Ray Fallon, who plays Andar Patrone, leader of Party 13.  Listen in as  JamesRudy, and Ray discuss Ray's thoughts on the show, Andar, and Dungeons and Dragons.

All About Hamlet

Ray Fallon is The Dane

...in Hamlet.  As in, he's Hamlet.  The greatest acting part in all of drama.

So wow.

Shakespeare 70 is a very well respected and talented group of individuals that put on an annual summer Shakespeare play in Central NJ (yes, it does exist).  While the location has varied since the company began back in 1970 (get it?), the past handful of years have been at the gorgeous Kelsey Theater at Mercer County Community College.  Many members of our cast have performed with S70 before - James Introcaso has poisoned himself as Romeo, Sarah Stryker has begrudgingly fallen in love as Beatrice, Dan Keyser has tried his damndest to court Olivia as Duke Orsino - but Hamlet is a special part, requiring a special actor (like Andrew Timmes, who played him in a college production many of us were also in [he killed Rudy {who killed Sarah}].

Also it is worth mentioning that:

John Fischer is The Dane's Best Buddy Horatio

...in the same production.  This is John's first time performing with Shakespeare 70, so be sure to send him good vibes for his premiere.  He has promised us Real Tears during the incredibly sad ending.

Hey, and don't forget:

Andrew Timmes is the Annoying Messenger, Osric

Theater Karma exists, listeners, and it is playing a delightful little joke on uber-talented Andrew Timmes.  Being able to see Hamlet be mean to a former Hamlet is a treat indeed.

And of course we must bring up that:

Lili Timmes is The Stage Manager

This is actually a more important position than Hamlet.

Go.  Go see it if you can.  You will not regret it.

Sarah Stryker is a Witch

...in a play.  Not in real life.  Or maybe?  You'd have to ask her.

One of the things we will always do here is key our audience in to any opportunities to see the cast perform somewhere live.  While everyone certainly does a wonderful job for HSWT, most of our actors identify as Theater Actors first and foremost.

Sarah is currently portraying one of the witches in Macbeth at The Philadelphia Shakespeare Theater.   She is also a lady-in-waiting for Twelfth Night, which is running in conjunction with Macbeth.

If you enjoy Shakespeare (as you should!) and live in the Philly area, you should absolutely do yourself a favor and check out either/both of these productions, which run until May 22.  They're very, very good.

You may also purchase tickets by calling the box office at 215-496-8001.

Sarah (far right) as a scary witch.  A, uh, "Scarah", if you will.

We Are Live!

Hello there, and welcome to the "official" launch day of Have Spellbook, Will Travel!  (the quotes are because we had to submit early to get on podcatcher app feeds)

Welcome Tome Show Listeners!

Ahoy, you Tome Show folk!  If you're here before 5/4, it's no doubt because you heard the most recent episode of The Round Table, in which James Introcaso and I (Rudy Basso) discuss Have Spellbook, Will Travel.  Thanks for coming by!  Feel free to browse and learn more about the cast and characters, or drop us a line via the contact page.

"What's this?  I see the first episode has been posted.  But didn't you guys mention that the first episode will premiere on Wednesday?"

Yeah, we said something to that effect.  Unfortunately, RSS feeds and iTunes approval being what it is, we had to jump the first episode forward a few days for release.  But that's good - it means that you, the canny listener who acts upon discovering something of interest, get to listen to the first episode early.  WHOA WHOA WHOA.  Awesome.  For you!

James and I have always been blown away by the positive response and feedback from our Tome Show show listeners, so we really appreciate you tuning into The Round Table and D&D V&G and hope you'll add HSWT to your regular podcast line-up as well!
